The "Bourne" franchise has found its next director: Justin Lin will helm the sequel to "The Bourne Legacy."
The sequel, the fifth movie in the "Bourne Identity" series, will continue the storyline of Aaron Cross (Jeremy Renner), who was introduced in "Legacy." Renner will reprise his role in the follow-up, and the script is set to be written by Anthony Peckham ("Invictus," "Sherlock").
Lin is no stranger to action flicks, having helmed the last four installments of the "Fast & Furious" franchise. The last three movies, including this summer’s "Fast & Furious 6," grossed a combined $1 billion at the global box office.
Studio Universal is reportedly eyeing a summer 2015 release date for "Bourne 5," though the crowded slate — including "The Avengers: Age of Ultron" and "Batman vs. Superman" — could force it to slide to a later spot on the calendar.
